Blackhawks Dynasty Parade & Rally

If you were one of the lucky thousands to snag a ticket for the Blackhawks Stanley Cup rally tomorrow, or if you’re just planning to head into the city for the parade, there are a few things you should keep in mind:

Metra Riders – while alcohol is generally permitted on Metra trains (except for specific events), no alcohol will be permitted this Thursday for the Blackhawks rally.

CTA Riders – alcohol is prohibited on CTA trains and buses at all times, and this Thursday is no exception.

Bike Riders – as we discussed back in September, it is not a good idea to drink and bike for several reasons.

Drivers – drinking and driving is against the law, and we here at LauraLaw strongly advise against it.  As we discussed in November, if you do drive – whether you think you’ve had too much to drink or not – you should politely refuse to perform field sobriety tests, politely refuse to submit to a breath test, and call LauraLaw.  As for the parking situation at Soldier Field this Thursday, there will be parking available at Soldier Field for $20.  According to the Official Blackhawks Website, however, tailgating will not be permitted in the parking lot, so do not expect to party like the Bears are hosting the Packers.  Also, as noted in our Happy New Year post, it is illegal for a parent to furnish alcohol to his or her minor child at home or in a vehicle under their control.

Walkers (not the Walking Dead kind) – the city has stated that there will be zero tolerance for drinking on the public way during tomorrow’s events.  Similarly, you will not be allowed to bring alcohol into Soldier Field for the event.

For more information about the parade and rally, visit the Chicago Tribune, the Daily Herald, and the Blackhawks Official Website for news and updates.

In all, the rally is intended to be a fun celebration of a hockey dynasty, and if you have plans to attend the parade or rally, we here at LauraLaw encourage you to have fun and be safe.  As always, if you should find yourself in police custody for any reason, politely decline to answer questions until you have had a chance to contact LauraLaw.  Oh, and go Hawks!
