Going to the Bears-Packers Game?

10_sportFBDoes your town or city allow residents to drink in public? Statistically, the answer is probably no. However, there are exceptions. Most people know that in Las Vegas, pedestrians are allowed to drink open containers of alcohol on the street. However, there are some cities and towns that do not outlaw drinking in public but the residents there don’t even know it. Such was the case in Indianapolis.

When the city of Indianapolis hosted the Super Bowl, football fans were seen walking through the streets with open containers of alcohol undisturbed by the police. Some residents assumed that drinking in public was made legal for just that occasion, but it actually had never been outlawed to begin with. To this day, there appears to be no law which prohibits drinking in public in Indianapolis.

Tonight, the Bears will play the Packers at Lambeau Field, which means scores of Chicagoans will make the trek up to Green Bay. If you are planning such an excursion, you should know a few things. First of all, Green Bay is not Indianapolis, and Green Bay municipal code ordinance 27.301 prohibits people from drinking intoxicants in public. However, section 27.301(3)(a) specifically excludes those drinking in the parking lot or sidewalks adjacent to Lambeau Field during sporting events. Tailgating at Lambeau starts at 3:30 pm tomorrow, and ends one hour after the game is over.
