This week our friend Sam Partida over at IllinoisCaseLaw.com posted the July 2015 update of criminal case law list. Providing links to the full cases, the list is a great resource for staying current with case law and includes six noteworthy cases that may be helpful to criminal law practitioners. Among the noteworthy cases are five reversals – an unexpectedly large number. In addition to the reversals, People v. Coleman affirms the suppression of a confession – determining that Miranda remains a requirement, even for parolees.
Partida’s list contains brief analyses of each case, making it easy to understand and a must read for any Illinois resident, not just criminal law practitioners.
