Winter Parking Ban

tow.truck03Tuesday marked the first day of the winter parking ban in Chicago and now might be a good time to make sure that you can still park in your usual spot.  Starting Tuesday at 3 A.M., the annual winter parking ban went in effect.  The parking restrictions, which are valid from December 1st, 2015 to March 31st, 2016, seem to surprise Chicagoans every year considering the amount of cars that are usually towed on the first night of the ban.  The parking restrictions affect more than 100 miles of Chicago streets so make sure to look out for the signs when parking.  The ban still applies even if there is no snow on the ground.  According to a press release from the City of Chicago, the restrictions are in place to allow plows easy access to the streets in order to salt and get rid of snow.   If you’re not careful you can end up with a $150 towing fee, a $60 ticket, and a $20 a day storage fee if your car is towed.  You can also check out a map of all the city streets that are affected by the winter ban as well as the locations of the impound lots here.  If you have any questions regarding the ban don’t hesitate to contact us.
