This past weekend, Spring Awakening Music Festival took place at Soldier Field in Chicago. After Saturday’s festivities ended, 19 year-old Steve Vongkoth was found dead outside of the festival. Police suspect it was a drug overdose. Music festivals may seem like fun summer activities, when in reality a lot of dangerous activities are taking place. Spring Awakening is known by many to be a drug fueled weekend of music and entertainment.  Drugs and alcohol are usually part of the reason for injuries or deaths that occur during these festivals and unfortunately, this past weekend was no exception. This leads to an important issue of talking with your teenagers before they attend these festivals to ensure that they understand the consequences of partaking in these activities and informing them about safety. Spring Awakening is the first of many music festivals that are set to take place in Chicago this summer.  Here at LauraLaw, our thoughts go out to Mr. Vongkoth’s family and friends.
